Hilma af Klint

Hilma af Klint (1862–1944) was a visionary Swedish artist and mystic whose groundbreaking abstract works went largely unnoticed during her lifetime. Now celebrated as a pioneer of abstraction, af Klint produced her first abstract paintings in 1906—years ahead of figures like Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian, traditionally recognized as leaders of the movement.
