Berlin Maps

Berlin Maps holds historic plans of the city: the “Pharus-Plan Berlin” of 1905, an early “Situations-Plan von Berlin” and a map of the centre. Kiessling’s “Neuer Radfahrer-Plan von Berlin mit Vororten” was drawn for cyclists and takes in the suburbs as well.

About Berlin Maps

Berlin grew quickly in the decades before the First World War. Until the Greater Berlin Act of 1920, towns such as Charlottenburg, Schöneberg and Spandau were separate municipalities, so maps of the period treat the city and its “Vororte”, the suburbs around it, as separate places.

Read together, the plans show the city at different stages of that growth, from the streets and squares of the centre and the course of the Spree to the outlying districts on Kiessling’s cycling plan. Each map is made to order in Berlin, the city it shows, as a giclée print with pigment inks on matte 210 g/m² fine art paper or 400 g/m² cotton canvas, in sizes A4 to A0.
