About this print

Detailed linework defines the foliage in the botanical backdrop behind the cerulean bird. Hand-colouring emphasises the texture of the feathers on the original plate, which was published in Paris between 1841 and 1849 as part of the French natural-history encyclopaedia “Dictionnaire universel d'histoire naturelle”.
