About this print

The zoological illustration positions a Victoria crowned pigeon with a fan-like crest against a subtle sketched landscape. Charles d'Orbigny published the plate in Paris between 1841 and 1849 for his French natural-history work, “Dictionnaire universel d'histoire naturelle”.
