About this print

Maurice Pillard Verneuil builds the composition from clean ink linework and soft lithographic colour washes. The plate appears in Eugène Grasset’s 1896 design book “La Plante et ses applications ornementales”, which turns flora and fauna into decorative studies. Flowing organic forms and underwater textures define the interaction between the animals and the plants.
