About this print

Sherman F. Denton produced the original plate for his 1900 publication “Moths and Butterflies of the United States”. The composition details the speckled wing patterns and the silvery spots of the insect. Precise scientific labelling completes the colour lithograph, which was made using actual butterfly specimens.
