Clear allBeeton was in her early twenties when the book first came out in monthly parts, published by her husband, Samuel Beeton; she died in 1865 at the age of 28. The book was revised and enlarged long after her death, and its later editions carried full-page colour plates showing dishes as they were meant to arrive at table.
Those plates work like a catalogue. Each one lines up finished dishes side by side: cold collations and entrées raised on stands, vegetables served plain or dressed on silver platters, fish, cakes and pastries, and dessert fruit arranged on glass stands. A chart of cheeses sets out the varieties one by one. Every sheet is reproduced as a giclée print with pigment inks, made to order in Berlin, on matte 210 g/m² fine art paper or 400 g/m² cotton canvas in sizes A4 to A0.
