About this print

Three fish from the East Indies fill the composition of the 1719 engraving. Decorative motifs and strong colours define the animals, blending early scientific naturalism with fantastical elements. The plate originates from Amsterdam and documents the region's aquatic life with a mix of observation and imagination.
