About this print

Pierre-Joseph Redouté prepared this plate for the botanical series “Les Liliacées” and employed stipple engraving to document the fibrous texture of the plant. Subtle shades of green stand out against an ivory backdrop. The artist, botanical painter to Empress Joséphine, recorded the yucca with strict accuracy.
