About this print

Seed cross-sections and a flowering head accompany the foliage on the plate. Redouté, botanical painter to Marie-Antoinette and Empress Joséphine, originally captured the plant's precise anatomical details through stipple engraving. The technique highlights the textures of the green leaves.
